Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, one of Nigeria’s front-liner Insurance Companies has been officially appointed the insurer for the forthcoming Dr E.I.P. Ebosie Memorial Age Group Swimming Competition in its fourth edition.
The age group swimming competition is an initiative of the Dr E.I.P Ebosie Foundation and is geared towards the promotion of academic and sporting excellence among Nigerian youths.
This year’s edition will attract additional participants from 6 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This is an improvement on the previous editions which had always been restricted to participants from Lagos state. Participants for this year’s competition will be drawn from secondary schools and clubs from the participating states namely Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Rivers, Cross Rivers and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In a statement issued in Lagos by the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications and Brand Management for Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Segun Bankole, He stated that ‘the gesture is a further indication of STI’s avowed commitment to the development of Sport across all strata in the country’. In his words, ‘we will be unrelenting in our commitment to the ideals of corporate social responsibility via the Sporting Platform as we have identified it as a potent tool for national integration in every sphere of our endeavours.
Sovereign Trust Insurance plc, has over the years consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to Sports development in Nigeria. It will be recalled that the company sponsored Nigerians to watch the CAF /MTN Nations Cup live in Accra, Ghana early this year. In 2007, it was the official Insurer to Team Nigeria at the All African Games .This is in addition to her other Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in other areas of our social clime.
The swimming competition will commence on October 24 through to 25, 2008 at the newly commissioned Olympic Size Swimming Pool of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
Participants will be contesting in different categories for laurels.
