To further confirm her dominance of the Oil and Gas Insurance market in Nigeria, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc recently announced the creation of a new division to be known as the Energy Division. The newly created division will be saddled with the responsibility of providing world-class insurance services in the Oil and Gas sector and other energy related issues for her ever-growing clientele base.
Until now, the Oil and Gas Desk under the Headship of Mr. Olaotan Soyinka operated as a department under the Technical Division. With this recent development, the erstwhile Head now becomes the Divisional Head with additional responsibilities as the department assumes the status of a full fledged Division.
In a statement made available to the press by the company’s Spokesperson, Mr. Segun Bankole at the annual Management and Budget Retreat Session held in Lagos, He stated that the creation of the new division could not have come at a better time than now with efforts being geared at consolidating on our leadership position in that regard. “We have built and we are still building capacity and expertise in the energy sector, it is a familiar terrain to us and we are set to maximize our potentials and assert our leadership” Bankole said. “The move is also in line with our business re-alignment towards being a customer-centric organization. For us to dedicate a whole division to Energy goes to tell you how serious we consider this sector to the economic development of our country”.
Olaotan Soyinka, an Assistant General Manager graduated from University of Lagos in 1991 with a 2nd Class Upper Division in Insurance and a Masters Degree in Marketing. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), and has over 16 years cognate experience in the insurance Industry. Soyinka is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School having successfully completed the Senior Management Programme of the School.
In the same vein, the Management has announced a major re-structuring aimed at improving service delivery as well as to engender better corporate performance. With the new development, Sammy Ogbodu, erstwhile General Manager, Head office Operations now takes charge of the Zonal Operations while Andy Azike becomes the General Manager for Head Office Operations. The Marketing/Relationship Division is now to be headed by Ugochi Odemelam while Bayo Alabi will direct the affairs of the Lagos zonal offices as the Zonal Chief Executive.
